She was elusive.
She was today. She was tomorrow.
She was the faintest scent of a cactus flower,
the flitting shadow of an elf owl.
We did not know what to make of her.
In our minds we tried to pin her to corkboard like a butterfly,
but the pin merely went through
and away she flew. - Jerry Spinelli

[ The Unstructured Thoughts ]
I admire my dearest Eleanor. I've never been too vocal of a person when it comes to my personal life or openly admitting my personal problems to the blog netizens. Then again, it's not just problems. My engagement for example. It seems as if I've subconsciously reinforced myself against blogging about the most colorful events, for fear that the effort of capturing it on a constant medium would drain away the bubbly effervescent of life. I would rather have an unfathomable notion floating around that's tagged with the general label of "Exciting!" than breaking the crystal ball trying to pin it down and dissect what's so "exciting" about it, only to find the fogs precipitate.
It's kinda like going shopping & sniping some quick cheap finds. There's this feeling that blooms in you bosoms; the feeling that draws a smile on your face with every time you peer into the bags in your hands. Sometimes you would forget what it is exactly that excites you, but each time you'd refuse the temptation to pull them out of the bags. Maybe it's the subconscious fear of reality check, that once you look at them closely, they're not as perfect as the idea in you have in your head. So you walked on, satisfied with the bags in your hands, as the mechanisms in your head tinkered on trying to prolong that bliss and make it last forever.
Perhaps I'll learn one day.
Meanwhile, let me express my joy in pictures:

[ Granola ]
What's the best summer food you ask? Well dear friends, look no further than the next super food that is Açai (a-sigh-EE). Native to the tropical lands of Central and South America, the Brazilians came up with a dish most ingenious. Tapping into the health conscious fad, they topped a bowl of granola, blueberries, strawberries and bananas with the pulp of these antioxidant-rich berries. Delicious, healthy, and the perfect food for summer.
Needless to say, Açai bowls were my staple food last summer.
And, like a wine aficionado critiquing a glass of his favorite Merlot, I delved deeper into this penchant of mine. What is it that I like so much about it? The fruity sorbet-like goodness? The fruits in it? And... mmm... what is this texture?
It was then when I realized my love for granola. I love, love, love granola. Jake no longer asks me what I want for breakfast; it is a given that we would venture down to a local eatery where I would ask for the usual: a bowl of granola and milk, topped with some blueberries.
When I'm not eating granola, I think about granola. So much so that last night, I jumped out of the couch and pondered aloud, "I wonder what would happen when we bake oats and honey together".
With a little bit of research, true enough, those are the main ingredients for granola. So much for always thinking about it, huh? It's really easy to make, too! There are plenty of recipes out there, but the gist of it is as follows:
Combine 2 cups of oats, 1/4 cups of sugar and a pinch of salt. Microwave 1/4 cup of honey for ~30 seconds, and stir in 1/4 cup of olive oil. Drizzle the honey and olive oil mix on top of the dry ingredients, and mix well. Preheat oven to 325 F, pop it in for 15-30 minutes and voila!
Slivered almonds, raisins, and other kinds of nuts and dried fruits would make it oh so delicious. It's rich in fiber, and perfect to snack on as it is, or with a bowl of milk.
Woohoo!
